Workshops Feedback

What an amazing week of WORKSHOPS!

Physical Fest offered a unique opportunity to meet and train with incredible international and national artists and to learn different physical theatre techniques.

Taking part of the workshops and learning some new techniques helped me to develop some useful physical theatre skills. I can’t wait to apply that in my future shows!

Check out some moments and feedback from our participants ;)

"The Expressive Ensemble" - Tmesis Theatre

'Fantastic and enriching!  Full of challenge and play.'

'Wonderful!  Very good learning experience but also good atmosphere.'

'Engaging.  Great to develop listening skills and expressive body.'

'I had a great time, learnt very useful exercises and met really nice people.'

"Japanese Theatre" - Izumi Ashizawa

I always wanted to explore the universe of Japanese theatre but I never had the opportunity to do that. I’m glad I tried it on Physical Fest!

Izumi’s workshop was very challenging. It was physically intense and we needed to be constantly focused and concentrated. Exploring the layers of presence and physical strength through the idea of “Nothing is everything” was a completely eye-opening. The way I was connected with the space and people around me was overwhelming.

I found those exercises really helpful to develop body awareness, presence on stage and Izumi was an essential piece to make all the process really enjoyable (despite the pain :p )

Below you can find some quotes about the experience of other participants.

'Unique, insight into Japanese theatre performance.'

'Authentic, connective, challenging, stimulating.'

'Eye opening workshop into a world of theatre I knew next to nothing about.'

'Though, powerful, strong, bankers.'

'Excellent.'

"Naked Comedy" - Deanna Fleysher

Deanna Fleysher is unbelievably amazing!

The most important thing I learnt was that I don’t need to start working, thinking : “I need to be funny!”. I can work with my own vulnerability and honesty and share that with the audience.

At the beginning, it was extremely emotional and scary, I felt really naked in front of the group, like they could read everything that was going on inside my brain and soul. But when I took control of the situation, I started to enjoy the workshop and all the exercises were hilarious!!! It’s incredible how funny you can look when you’re just being natural and honest about what you’re feeling.

I had so much fun! We spent a great time together!

Physical Fest is also about making friends and possible colleagues for future projects.

'Vulnerable yet warm and really inviting.  Excellent practice and really enjoyable workshop.'

'The BEST comedy workshop I have ever done!'

'Absolutely fantastic!'

'Insightful, a safe space to explore clown and vulnerability and honesty.'

“Effortlessly Funny” – Jamie Wood

'Wonderful, challenging, provocative, exposing, nourishing.'

'Accepting open space where I could try new things too loose but if I didn’t want to put myself out there, I wasn’t pressured.'

'It was very freeing. I love the fact we could just evolve naturally.'

'Very good!'

“(Animal) Transformation and Imaginative Improvisation” – Gabrielle Moleta

'So detailed and thorough. Gabrielle is so knowledgeable.  Fantastic to soak up her thoughts and ideas.'

'Gabriella is open, encouraging and a nurturing guide through this work.'

'Incredible way into the body of an animal to unlock something within our performing selves.'
